Strategies for the Online Environment

There are two elements to quality online courses: course design and course conduct. Mason celebrates faculty creativity, but we want to be able to answer the questions “What does a quality online course look like?” and “What constitutes a well-taught online course?” Collaborating with experienced online faculty and course designers, the Office of Digital Learning (ODL) produced these Best Practice lists.

Whether developing a new course or redesigning a current one, we hope these recommendations can serve as a checklist to put you well on the way toward a quality online teaching and learning experience. See our Resources tab above for Mason units that can help you implement these best practices.
